For website or blog owners, the number one concern (besides coming up with fresh content) is making sure their websites are as search engine friendly as possible. This practice, more commonly referred to as SEO (search engine optimization) has become so important that there are businesses whose sole focus is providing SEO to their clients. As the internet continues to become an ever more crowded marketplace, SEO is needed more and more in order for potential viewers to even find your website on Google, Bing or any other search engine.
One software company, Ranks NL (created and maintained by Dutch company ‘Ranks’) has created a platform for SEO that any website or blog owner can use without paying the sometimes exorbitant costs SEO marketers will charge you for the same service. Even better, the platform and its user interface is extremely intuitive and easy enough to use that anybody with basic knowledge of SEO (simply reading a Wikipedia article about it is enough) can figure it out.
While exploring the trial, some useful key features really stuck out for me:
First, the Page Analyzer: Simply type in your site’s URL, and it will give you a listing of all the words determined to be keywords in your site, along with how strong the optimization is for those keywords, and the density and prominence ranking for those words (The platform explains what all of these terms mean as well, so even if you aren’t familiar with them now, you will be).
Second, the Article Analyzer: Particularly useful for blog owners, by copying and pasting your blog post or article into the Article Analyzer, Ranks NL allows you to view multiple phrases of different word lengths that the search engines would be looking for, and also gives you an analysis of their repetitions, density and prominence.
Third, Social Network Counts: This feature allows you to see all of the social network shares, likes, tweets, comments, etc. pertaining to your website for all of the top social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, LinkedIn, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, etc. This is a great tool to easily see what content gains the most traction so you can adjust future content accordingly.
While these features stuck out as the most useful to me as a blog writer, there are plenty of other useful features included in their platform. Some other features include:
- Multi Page Analyzer
- Keyword Combinations
- Link Extractor
- Validate HTML
- Keyword Research
- File Differences
- English Word Meanings
- Words to Links
While you can pay either a monthly or yearly subscription fee to use Ranks NL, you can receive a demo report of your site for free as well as signup for a free trial month to decide if it’s the right SEO tool for you. To request your demo report, visit the site here.
